About this role

Auburn City Schools is seeking dedicated and enthusiastic Instructional Aides to support classroom teachers and school staff in creating a positive and effective learning environment for students. As part of one of Alabama's highly regarded school districts, you will play a vital role in helping students achieve academic success through individualized attention, group support, and hands-on instructional assistance. This is a meaningful opportunity for individuals who are passionate about education and committed to making a difference in the lives of young learners. This position operates on an on-call basis, with scheduling aligned to the school's standard schedule. While some districts may offer opportunities outside of the regular school schedule, these are not guaranteed and opportunities will be limited. As an Instructional Aide, you will work closely with classroom teachers to reinforce lessons, supervise students during instructional and non-instructional periods, and provide both enrichment and remedial support tailored to individual student needs. Candidates must hold a valid Medication Certification (MCS) and complete required state credentialing prior to beginning work, including the ALSDE Background Check, Jason Flatt Act Training, and Erin's Law Online Training. Ideal candidates will bring prior experience working with children, a professional and approachable demeanor, and the flexibility to adapt to varying classroom environments and student needs throughout the school year.

A Day in the Life

A typical day as an Instructional Aide with Auburn City Schools begins with arriving at your assigned school ready to support the classroom teacher from the moment students walk in. You might start by helping set up instructional materials or organizing the physical learning environment before students arrive. Throughout the school day, you will circulate among students during lessons, offering one-on-one or small group support to reinforce skills being taught. You may assist with reading groups, math practice, or hands-on activities designed to engage learners at different levels. During non-instructional periods such as lunch, recess, or transitions, you will supervise students to ensure their safety and well-being. You may also assist with testing and evaluation activities to help track student progress. Success in this role looks like students feeling supported and confident, teachers feeling empowered by your assistance, and a classroom environment that is organized, positive, and productive. Every day brings new challenges and rewards as you contribute directly to student growth and achievement.
