A Day in the Life

A typical day as a Substitute Teacher with Bullock County Schools begins with an early morning arrival to the assigned school, where you'll check in with the front office, review the classroom teacher's lesson plans, and prepare any materials needed for the day. You'll take attendance in accordance with school procedures and set up any basic technology equipment needed to support instruction. Throughout the day, you'll guide students through their assigned classwork and homework, maintaining a calm and focused classroom environment while keeping students engaged and on task. You'll maintain classroom control and discipline, implementing the regular teacher's lesson plans and assigning work as directed. Between classes or during planning periods, you'll have time to review upcoming lessons and address any student questions or concerns. At the end of the day, you'll complete a daily report for the classroom teacher summarizing how the day went, any behavioral concerns, and the progress made on lesson objectives. Success in this role looks like a classroom that ran smoothly, students who felt supported, and a teacher who returns to a well-documented and orderly room.
