About this role

Fairfield City Schools is seeking dedicated and dependable Child Nutrition Program (CNP) Workers to join their food service team in Fairfield, Alabama. This role plays a vital part in ensuring that students receive nutritious, safe, and appealing meals every school day — supporting both their health and their ability to learn and thrive in the classroom. As a CNP Worker, you will be part of a collaborative kitchen and cafeteria team responsible for preparing, serving, and distributing meals in accordance with federal nutrition guidelines and school district standards. This is a hands-on, fast-paced role that requires a positive attitude, strong work ethic, and a genuine commitment to student well-being. This position follows the Fairfield City Schools academic calendar, meaning work schedules align with school days, holidays, and breaks.

A Day in the Life

Your day typically begins before the first school bell rings. You'll arrive early to help set up the kitchen and cafeteria, prepare ingredients, and ensure all food is ready for service. During breakfast and lunch service periods, you'll work alongside your teammates to serve students efficiently and with a friendly smile — keeping lines moving while maintaining a clean and welcoming environment. Between service periods, you'll assist with cleaning equipment, restocking supplies, and preparing for the next meal. Throughout the day, food safety and sanitation are top priorities — you'll follow established protocols for temperature control, hygiene, and proper food handling. At the end of your shift, you'll help with final cleanup, dishwashing, and closing duties to ensure the kitchen is ready for the next school day. Success in this role means students are fed on time, the kitchen runs smoothly, and every team member contributes to a safe and positive environment.
