Spur Staffing is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Education Aide to join our team to work in Huntsville City Schools. As a Special Education Aide, you will play a crucial role in providing support and assistance to students with special needs, helping them access their education and achieve their individual goals. Responsibilities:
- Assist special education teachers in implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) and adapting instructional materials to meet the diverse needs of students with special needs.
- Provide one-on-one or small-group support to students during classroom activities, ensuring their understanding and engagement.
- Assist students with daily tasks, such as personal hygiene, mobility, and communication, as required.
- Support students in developing and strengthening their academic, social, and emotional skills through guided practice and reinforcement.
- Implement behavior management strategies and support students in following classroom rules and routines.
- Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and other support staff to facilitate the integration of students with special needs into the general education environment.
- Assist with the preparation and modification of instructional materials, including visual aids, worksheets, and assistive technology tools.
- Monitor student progress and collect data on their performance, behavior, and achievements as directed by the teacher.
- Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment, promoting acceptance, understanding, and respect among all students.
- Provide assistance during transitions between activities and locations, ensuring student safety and well-being.
- Maintain confidentiality of student information and comply with all applicable laws and regulations regarding student privacy.
Requirements:
- One of the following: An associate's degree or higher or 48+ credit hours or a passing score on the workkeys test.
- Previous experience working with individuals with special needs, preferably in an educational or childcare setting.
- Basic understanding of different disabilities and their potential impact on learning and development.
- Patience, empathy, and the ability to establish a rapport with students with diverse learning needs.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with students, teachers, and parents/guardians.
- Ability to follow directions, multi-task, and maintain composure in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
- Flexibility and adaptability to meet the changing needs and demands of students.
- First Aid and CPR certification (preferred but not mandatory).
Compensation
- Pay $15.00 p/hr
- Job Hours: 7:30am - 3:30pm (Vary Between Elementary/Middle/High School)
