Spur is looking for enthusiastic and approachable certified substitute teachers for KIPP Memphis Schools. This is for the upcoming semester of the school year 2024. This position pays $225 per day for certified teachers with a cleared KIPP background check. The ideal candidate for the job would enjoy working with students and hold a passion for teaching. A Special Education Teacher is an educator who specializes in teaching children with physical, mental, emotional, and learning disabilities. They develop tailored teaching plans, collaborate with parents and support staff, and assess students’ progress to help them achieve important learning milestones. Teachers are expected to be punctual and professional and maintain a professional appearance. Candidates must always act by the school’s rules and procedures. Position schedules will be based on the school’s standard schedule; however, some districts may offer opportunities outside the regular school schedule. Extra opportunities are dictated entirely by the district where they fall and are not guaranteed.

The duties and requirements for this position are:

• Proven experience as a Special Education Teacher or relevant role
• Good knowledge of current special education topics and methodologies
• Experience working with children with a wide range of disabilities
• Ability to create IEPs
• A patient, resourceful, and resilient personality
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Valid state special education certificate
• BSc in Special Education; MSc is a plus

Qualifications

• Tennessee Teachers certification in Special Education. 
• Must be able to obtain a State of Tennesse Background Check
• Have a bachelor's in education with a 2.5 GPA or any bachelor's degree
• Required Online Training

Compensation

• This position pays $225 per day
• Must be available to work 7:30 am to 3:30 pm Monday - Friday when school is in session. (Hours vary per location)
