Spur Staffing is looking for enthusiastic and hardworking individuals for Operations Crewmembers at the Von Braun Center (VBC). Located at 700 Monroe Street, Huntsville, AL., the VBC is a multipurpose facility with the primary objective of facilitating and promoting events and activities in addition to generating economic benefit and improving the quality of life for the Huntsville community and surrounding areas.

This position will largely work out of the Concert Hall, Playhouse and Mars Music Hall but could work in other areas at the VBC. The job entails setting up rooms for events, taking down event set ups, cleaning venus before and after events, continued cleaning and preparation in between events.

The duties and requirements for this position are:

- Must be able to communicate effectively and professionally with VBC staff, vendors, customers, patrons and outside agencies

- Must be a hard worker with a great attention to detail, great teamplayer and takes direction well

- Must be able to read and understand work instructions, event documents, layout documents, etc.

- Must be able to measure and calculate floor layouts from an event document and must be able to communicate instructions to other workers.

- Utilizes basic knowledge of all aspects of housekeeping, event set-up, and conversions.

- Operating janitorial machinery and small equipment such as a floor scrubber, carpet extractor, hand drill, etc.

- Set-up and take-down of portable stage construction and portable wall installation

- Heavy labor which includes lifting and setting up chairs, tables, and other related items associated with trade shows, concerts, family shows, etc.

- Must be willing to work in an inside/outside setting

- Must be able to walk, stand, lift, push, pull, safely climb ladders and steep stairs, etc. for long periods of time.

- Must be able to lift 50 lbs or more

- Von Braun Center expects employees to work their schedule as it is assigned to them weekly. Call outs must be approved by Manager on Duty before scheduled shifts

- All other duties assigned by supervisor

Qualifications:

- Must be 18 years of age or older

- Must pass a background check

- Must pass a physical skills assessment. Must be able to lift 50 lbs or more

- Must possess a valid and current driver’s license

- High school diploma, equivalent or higher

- Must be available to work day/night shifts, weekends and holidays. Also, On-Call Availability

- Forklift Operator Certification a plus but not required

Pay Rate:

- $15.00 p/hr - Full Time / 40 Hours Per Week (Hours are event based)
