Vehicle Technician (Town of Palm Beach)

Spur seeks a hard-working and dependable Vehicle Technician in the Palm Beach area. The Vehicle Technician is responsible for maintenance of the cars and trucks in the Police Department fleet. This includes vacuuming and preparing the cars for use by on-duty personnel. This position will assist the Fleet Manager by performing basic automotive services, including mounting and balancing tires, tire repairs, oil changes, vehicle inspections, and other less technical services while maintaining a clean and safe work area.
Duties expected of this position are:
- Wash, polish, and dry vehicle windshields, windows, lights, mats, and exterior body by hand.
- Clean vehicles' interiors by vacuuming, shampooing, and removing stains.
- Operate standard cleaning and maintenance equipment safely.
- Apply dressing on tires and rims.
- Maintaining cleaning supply inventory
- Assist with local vehicle deliveries.
- Work at heights up to 10 feet above and below ground and in confined spaces.
- Stand up for extended periods and stoop and bend.
- Complete work in an area that is very uncomfortable due to extreme temperature, noise levels, and other conditions.
- The employee may sometimes be required to proofread and check documents for accuracy, use a keyboard to enter and transform words or data, and/or use a video display terminal.
- The work environment involves moderate exposure to hazards or physical risks, which requires following basic safety requirements climbing up and/or down a ladder, including road rules and facility regulations.
Minimum and Preferred Qualifications:
- Must have a clear background check.
- Must be able to pass a drug screening.
- High school graduate or GED equivalent or related technical training accepted instead of a degree.
- Must possess a valid driver's license with a clean driving recorder.
- Minimum of 6 months of detailing experience.
- Manual labor and lifting at least 100 pounds.
- Experience in maintaining fleet vehicles preferred.
- The ability to work a flexible schedule, including days, evenings, and weekends days may be necessary.
Compensation
- This position pays $17.00 to $21.00
